When I first conceptualized this work, I was deeply inspired by the mesmerizing patterns found in nature, such as the delicate structures of flowers and snowflakes. I wanted to capture the essence of these organic forms while integrating them into a precise, geometric design that would captivate the viewer.

To achieve this, I turned to laser cutting technology, which allowed me to create incredibly detailed and intricate patterns with a level of precision that would be nearly impossible to achieve by hand. I meticulously designed each element of the piece, considering how the shapes would flow and interact with one another to create a sense of movement and depth.

Central to the design is the vibrant orange star that draws the viewer’s eye to the heart of the piece. This striking element serves as a focal point, captivating attention and radiating energy outward into the surrounding patterns. More orange accents can be seen at the edges of the piece.

The choice of the star shape and the bold, warm color was a deliberate decision to create a sense of vitality and luminosity at the core of the artwork. In many cultures, stars are associated with concepts of hope, guidance, and aspiration. By placing this symbol at the center, I aimed to imbue the piece with a sense of purpose and positivity, inviting the viewer to reflect on their own inner light and potential.

As I worked on this piece, I found myself becoming increasingly absorbed in the process of designing and refining these delicate, organic forms. Each petal-like shape was meticulously crafted to interlock seamlessly with its neighbors, forming a continuous, flowing pattern that evokes the natural structures found in the world around us.

One of the key aspects of this artwork is the incorporation of negative space. By carefully cutting away certain areas, I aimed to create a dynamic interplay between the piece and the light that passes through it. As the lighting shifts, the shadows cast by the artwork transform, adding an ethereal and ever-changing quality to the work.

The choice of Walnut as the medium was deliberate. I wanted to juxtapose the warmth and organic texture of the material with the digital fabrication process, creating a compelling contrast that invites the viewer to consider the relationship between traditional craftsmanship and modern technology.

Through the use of precise cutting, negative space, and the natural qualities of the wood itself, I hope to convey the true essence of this piece – a celebration of the fascinating patterns and structures found in nature, reimagined through the lens of contemporary tools and artistic vision.

Ultimately, this piece is a reflection of my deep fascination with the intersection of art, nature, and technology. It represents my ongoing exploration of how we can create works that captivate the eye, engage the mind, and evoke a profound emotional response in those who experience them.
